UPDATE!! I WROTE THE ORIGINAL REVIEW 7 YEARS AGO. WE JUST BOUGHT ANOTHER ONE AS IT IS FINALLY SHOWING SOME WEAR AFTER SEVEN YEARS! I'LL SEW UP THE SMALL TEAR IT HAS AND WE'LL THEN HAVE ONE FOR OUR SECOND CAR. NOW, THE DOG I WROTE ABOUT WHEN FULLY GROWN ENDED UP 125 POUNDS. WE NEVER EXPECTED TO FIND ANY PRODUCT, LET ALONG A SEAT COVER FOR A 120 POUND DOG TO HOLD UP SO WELL. KUDOS TO THIS COMPANY. We have both a new 80 lb lab/hound mix, rescued 16 month old dog and a new 2017 Kia Sorento with leather seats. (That stock photo looks a lot like our guy, ironically.) We were trying to protect both with a less expensive cover we bought, but it wasn't large enough and it slid around too much. Like many, I read all the reviews I could, trying to see if this was the best for us. We needed to make sure the cover itself stayed in place AND that our dog wouldn't slide off it. I was concerned when it said this this was "waterproof", so I thought it would be a slick, plastic type surface--it's not. It's a heavy canvas quilted product.Like others mentioned we like the flaps that go over the sides and the ;hammock sling, which we just let lay on the floor. But it's nice to hide my purse under when we go to the dog park! This thing is terrific. We thought we'd need the XL, but hubby measured the seats and their handy guide was correct, it fits very well. We wish it were a little higher, as about 2-3" of the leather back shows. It goes on very quickly and easily and the straps they have for the headrest are much better than the elastic ones we had for the other cover. We may use the hammock, but we don't mind him sticking his head between the seats at us.We also used the harness that came with it to help tether him in place. They could give some directions for that with the packaging. It was a bit confusing. We knew we could call, but we just kept working with it. We did use it the first time, then figured we wouldn't bother for the second. Well, that time we made a slightly quick stop and Marcus hit the backs of our seats. He prefers to be up, not lying down on short trips. So we learned our lesson. We may switch harnesses. We do have a very good, heavy duty safety harness that we may use instead. It's rated for real car crashes, but this one will do. The tether strip from the seat to the harness will take other types of harnesses and is very strong. It also allows for the dog to get to the windows, which could be a plus or minus--we like component. What's a car without puppy windows, right?I almost knocked down a star as it would be nice if it were a bit higher, but it's not a big deal.
